Due to the risks of covid-19 and local restrictions announced by RCT, we are currently unable to hold any of our community events. We are currently looking into how we can safely hold our children’s activities again.
We can’t wait to see you all soon!
Messy Church is church for all ages. We love to help families encounter God together through Bible stories, song, lots of craft and even some messy play! We start each Messy Church with the ‘celebration’ – a story and some fun singing and dancing. Following this we have a variety of craft activities that follow the theme of the story including some messy play activities for younger children. Messy Church is a place where you can come and meet new friends and families, get stuck into new activities and learn about God and grow in his love through all age worship, creativity and by getting a bit messy! We end all our Messy Church events with some food (normally some party food) that we share together.
Messy Church is a free event, there is no need to book and children must come accompanied by parent/carers.
We are currently using the Dare Community Sports Hall – located in the new housing estate at the bottom of Cwmdare Hill (where the old ‘Boys Comp’ used to be) – for Messy Church, and it runs from 3pm to 5pm on a Sunday afternoon approximately once every two months. Stay tuned on our website and social media for the next event.
Messy Church is an event that focuses on God through creativity and celebration. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures to come and explore who Jesus is through creativity and fun activities.
When you arrive you will be welcomed by someone from our team at the door. When you first attend, or if it has been a while since you last attended, you will be asked to complete a registration form. You will then enter the sports hall where we will have seats set out in one of the corners and this is where we start with our celebration! Our Messy Church team is made up of a planning group and event volunteers. They are people who are part of our Bryn Sion church family and include experienced school teachers, child care professionals, and other very clever and creative people!
Where to find us
We hold our Messy Church Events at Dare Community Sports Hall in Trecynon.
The events are open to all primary aged children, families and adults, no need to book or pay – just turn up. We’d love to see you!
Messy Church is run globally by many churches. It is coordinated nationally by the Bible Reading Fellowship. We in Bryn Sion are delighted to be part of this wonderful movement that brings families and communities together in fun, creative, and even messy ways, to encounter God and grow in God’s love together.
All Messy Church leaders and helpers have completed a DBS check and parents are required to stay at the facility throughout the event.
Messy play is a big part of our sessions, please make sure that a team leader or helper is aware of any allergies. Be assured that you and your child’s safety is our absolute priority in all our events and activities.
Food & Snacks
Alongside our craft activities we have a messy play corner for toddlers / pre-schoolers. We have new and exciting activities added every session, that link to the theme of the story. From experimenting with a shaving foam bath to classic sand pit play, we have a range of activities for you and your kids to get your hands into (literally)!
Arts & Craft
As well as our messy activities we have a collection of art and craft activities. Whether that’s making figurines out of clay, colouring in, or decorating cookies, we have a variety of options and all of them develop the theme of that Messy Church. We supply paper bags so you can create masterpieces to take home with you!
